How often are you told to do this or not to do that? Most of the time, I'm sure... Well, one has to live by the rules and to establish those rules, Mr Imperative shows up!
Mr Imperative can give us instructions: Enter your password.
Mr Imperative can give us orders: Go to your room!
Mr Imperative can even give us warnings: Don't play here! It's dangerous.
Mr Imperative can offer us some advice: Don't forget to study for the test.
But Mr Imperative can also be useful to make an invitation: Come to my birthday party.
or even a request: Lend me your new IPod, please
If you are in the mood to offer something, Mr Imperative can also help you: Have a cookie.
So how does Mr Imperative show up?
In Affirmative sentences he just needs the verb in the Infinitive without "to"
In Negative sentences he needs Don't + verb in the Infinitive without "to"
